Mom Leaves Note On “Disrespectful” Son’s Door, And It’s Going Viral

It’s difficult to be the parent of a pompous, disrespectful adolescent, and parents employ a variety of ways to discipline their children.

A mother called Heidi Johnson posted a handwritten note to her son Aaron on Facebook.

She had no clue the post would become so popular.

She had absolutely no intention of making the post public. Although she only intended for her friends to view it, she is not sorry for posting it online.

Johnson admonished her 13-year-old son for treating her like a “roommate” in a letter to him. She went on to give him an itemised statement for over $700 in meals, rent, and other expenses. She would treat him as a roommate if he was going to treat her like that instead of his mother.

Johnson wrote, “Love Mom,” on the note, and she adores her kid. She responded with a second post, providing additional information about the situation. “I will not throw my 13-year-old on the street if he cannot pay his portion of the rent. I do not want him to pay anything. I want him to be proud of his house and place, as well as to appreciate the gifts and blessings that we have.

She went on to add that she never intended for Aaron to reimburse the fee. Rather, she wanted him to “acquire an understanding of what things cost.” Johnson wanted her child to know “what life would look like if I were not his ‘parent,’ but rather a ‘roommate,'” so she wrote the note. It began as a lesson in appreciation and civility.

Johnson also claimed that before she wrote the email, her son had lied about doing his homework, and when she informed him she was going to limit his internet access, he said, “Well, I am making money now.” She stated that the money he was talking to was a small portion of his revenue from his YouTube channel, but it was insufficient to cover food and rent.

Johnson’s relationship with her son has been unaffected by the public note. She explained, “He and I continue to converse as openly as ever. “He has apologised several times.”

Since posting the note to her son, Johnson has also received enquiries from parents seeking assistance. She clarifies: “

She clarifies: “My post seems to having opened a door, and people feel safe coming to me and asking for advice, venting, or even just having someone bear witness to their experience by listening and opening up and sharing a piece of myself in return.”
